ABOUT CLAY LLAMA STUDIO
Small batch handmade ceramics by Leilana LaFleur

THE PROCESS
Everything you see here is handmade in small batches by me in my home studio. Each item is a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art which I hope brings joy through its everyday use.
I use a pottery wheel for most of my creations or I hand build using clay slabs. Each piece requires anywhere from 13-18 steps to create and can take up to 3 weeks to complete from start to finish, depending on drying time.
I ask you to keep in mind that all items are made by hand and by nature have slight variations, this includes items sold as sets.
Think of items in a set as siblings as opposed to identical twins.

THE CLAY
Currently, I work exclusively with a reddish-brown stoneware. I look forward to adding additional clay bodies in the future as my studio grows. All work is fired in an electric kiln to cone 6 or just over 2100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Stoneware is durable by design. My creations are for everyday use. All food-ware items (unless specifically stated otherwise) are dishwasher and microwave safe.
Not recommended for use in a preheated oven or extreme temperature changes. (i.e. chilled tumbler filled with a boiling liquid)
I work with stoneware clay and glazes that are commercially manufactured and certified non-toxic and food safe.
